Storage cylinders can either use the principle of instantaneous hot water or layering technology. In the case of instantaneous hot water, the potable water is heated up only when it is withdrawn from the storage cylinder. Layering technology ensures that water in the storage cylinder is not unnecessarily mixed with the water from the return pipe from the heating system, thereby increasing the solar yield.
